Economic Empowerment and Entrepreneurship
The mission of NCNW Economic Empowerment & Entrepreneurship Committee is to empower women of African descent, their families and communities. One of the ways that we do this is by presenting information, forums and advocacy that is designed to help women and their families achieve their economic and financial aspirations.
The Economic Empowerment & Entrepreneurship Committee will be a visible and vocal force in the East Bronx economic landscape to ensure our voices are included in public policy decisions, and the governing of our communities, schools, housing, hospitals, businesses, and systemic entrepreneurship productive.
The Economic Empowerment & Entrepreneurship Committee will engage in forums that promote economic empowerment, financial literacy, trusts, wills, increasing the number of women owned businesses, generational wealth, collective community wealth, and sustainability.
S.T.E.A.M. and Education
NCNW seeks to establish a more comprehensive, integrated response to the need for science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics education for communities of color. In recognition of the fact that economic stability and career opportunities are enhanced by familiarity with STEAM, NCNW believes it is important to cooperatively plan for and implement measures that will provide greater awareness of STEAM careers and greater access to the paths to those careers.
We are committed to creating strategies to address and eliminate the barriers that artificially limit STEAM opportunities in the workplace and in the classroom for many hard-working American families.
Although there are efforts to promote technological competence, there remains a significant digital divide that disproportionately affects blacks and women. Meanwhile, the national economy is hampered by an inadequate number of persons prepared to work in science-related occupations, including aviation.
NCNW has established partnerships with a variety of organizations committed to promoting interest in STEAM, access to STEAM education, awareness of careers in technology and equal opportunity in education, employment, and business formation.
Health Equity
National Council of Negro Women, Inc. is dedicated to tackling health disparities faced by Black women through targeted programming and funding initiatives. We address critical issues such as maternal health, chronic illness, cancer, mental health, and vaccine access by improving healthcare access, increasing awareness, and advocating for culturally competent care. By partnering with local health providers and community leaders, we strive to create equitable healthcare solutions that empower Black women to lead healthier lives and reduce systemic barriers to quality care.
Social Justice and Civic Engagement
The Social Justice Committee is dedicated to empowering communities through education, advocacy, and action. Its mission is to provide vital information on voter registration and participation in all phases of the electoral process, fostering informed and engaged citizens.
By addressing social justice issues that affect our communities, the committee seeks to inspire meaningful actions and responses. Additionally, it aims to establish sustainable partnerships with affiliate organizations, leveraging collective efforts to tackle systemic challenges. Through these initiatives, the committee is committed to creating actionable steps that advance justice and equality for all.
